PETER COHAN Architect is a residential design practice located in Seattle, Washington.  We specialize in new houses, additions and renovations.  Peter Cohan, AIA has been licensed in the state of Washington since 1991.  He is also an associate professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington.

These are the principles of our practice: 

Architecture should reflect the lives of its users and be shaped by their emotional, intellectual and physical needs. 

It takes strong ideas to turn the often contradictory requirements of a design project into a realized vision that is greater than the sum of its parts. 

Architecture is an integral part of a much larger physical and cultural context.  It should respond to that context deliberately and use natural resources and materials in a responsible way. 

Architecture has a wholeness.  Every detail should relate to the others in a way that tells a complete story.
